Early Life
There's a Copley pedigree in Hunter1 which includes her parents but not Mary herself. Instead, we can find the direct link in the Visitation of Yorkshire2 which shows that Mary Copley was the daughter of John Copley and Agnes Pigott3.
Footnotes
[1] South Yorkshire - History and Topography of the Deanery of Doncaster, by the Rev. Joseph Hunter, London, 1828; Copley of Nether Hall, page 51
[2] The Visitation of Yorkshire In the Years 1563 and 1564, by William Flower, ed. Charles Norcliffe, London (1891); Copley, pages 78-79
[3] Visitations of the North, Vol 2 (page 163) shows Mary as having married Thomas Portington, not John Portington. Perhaps this is a confusion of John with his father and it should say that Mary married John, son of Thomas Portington? The same marriage is shown in the Visitations of Yorkshire (1563-1564) in the Copley pedigree on page 78 but I think that is a direct copy of the Visitations of the North (or vice versa).
