Early Life
There's a baptismal record for a Susanna Flather, daughter of Joseph Flather, bapt. 14 April 1678 at Elland, which is SW of Leeds, just north of Huddersfield. If this is the right record, that would make her 25 when she married in 1703 which is about right. However, there's no way to be sure that this is the right person, other than the matching name.
She may have had a sister Phoebe (
see top of this page (Susanna and Christopher Darnton are below). This Phoebe, who married in 1703, must have been born before 1682: one possible candidate was born 30 Dec 1680 in Armley, a district of Leeds, daughter of William Flather. This location seems more plausible than Elland, as described for Susanna Flather above. This William Flather appears to have married an Ann Barraby of Hunslet, on the 26th of June 1672. They
married at Leeds St Peter, which is a common church in subsequent generations.
Lacking any real evidence of her parents at this stage, I will make her a Brick Wall.
