  Early Life David Maule was the son of William Maule of Auchrinne and Janet Carnegy. David must have been born before 1552 when he was named in a charter for the lands of Boath and Cairncorthie. Given that his father William was born around 1470, David is unlikely to have been born much later than 1520. David's wife Catherine Balfour survived until at least 1623, so must have been quite a bit younger. Death David's eldest son, also called David, was served heir 8 Feb 1596, so David senior must have died before then.
