      A memorial inscription1 at St Mary's church in Mirfield reads:
      Here are interred the remains of Benjamin son of DANIEL MICKLETHWAIT of Hopton who died December the 16th 1762 aged 32 years.
      Improve your time for it flies away apace.
      Also the body of Dan.l MICKLETHWAIT, father to ye abovesaid Benjamin who departed this life the 8th day of April 1765 in ye 84th year of his age.
      Also the body of Mary wife of the abovesaid Daniel who departed this life ye 7th day of July 1780 in ye 96th year of her age.
      Also the body of Dan.l son to the above Daniel and Mary who departed this life the 18th of October 1780 in ye 59th year of his age. Also the body of John son to ye above Daniel and Mary who died May the 12th 1786 in the 69th year of his age.
      Here lieth interr’d the body of Ann wife of the abovesaid DANIEL MICKLETHWAIT of Hopton Junr who departed this life the 12th day of July in the year of our Lord 1762 and in the 58th year of her age.
