    • Early Life
      William Lupton was born on the 2nd of September 1700 and baptised on the 18th in York. His parents were Francis Lupton of Kirkgate in Leeds, and Esther Midgeley (the daughter of Ralph Midgeley of Breare and Frances Burnistone. Note that William's marriage record states his year of birth as 1702, rather than 1700.

      Career Family Life
      William became a yeoman farmer and clothier; Wikipedia has this:
      William I (1700–1771), a yeoman farmer and clothier with business connections in the Netherlands and Germany, lived in Whitkirk, Leeds. He became Sir Henry Ibbetson's chief cloth-dresser. Master dressers were skilled artisans who finished the cloth and were the highest paid in the cloth industry. Appointed the sole executor of Ibbetson's partner John Koster, Lupton managed the company for Ibbetson during his last illness


      William married Mary (or possibly Mary Susanna) Higson/Hickson on the 3rd of February 1730 at York in Yorkshire. They had:
      1. Francis, b. 1731 and who worked in Lisbon in the cloth trade
      2. William, b. 1732 who became a school master and vicar
      3. Arthur, b. 1748, who married Olive Rider and died in 1807


      Death
      William died aged 70, around March 1771, and was buried on the 5th of that month at St Peter's in Leeds.
