    • Early Life
      William FitzWilliam was born c. 1352, the eldest son of Sir John FitzWilliam of Sprotborough in Yorkshire and Elizabeth de Clinton, the daughter of William de Clinton, Earl of Huntingdon. Through his mother, William FitzWilliam was a direct descendent of the Magna Carta Baron Robert FitzWalter.

      Family Life
      William married Maud Cromwell, coheiress of Ralph, Lord Cromwell of Tattershall; they had two sons and two daughters:

      1. John, born c. 1377 and who married Eleanor Green
      2. Ralph
      3. Joan, who married Sir Henry Sothill
      4. Elizabeth, who married Sir Robert Rockley


      Death
      William died on the 8th of April 1398, aged about 46.
