    • Early Life
      As per stirnet, John Carstairs was the son of Sir John Carstairs, 1st of Kilconquhar and Elspeth Donaldson (1st wife), though the site also indicates that John's mother may actually have been Agnes Murray (2nd wife).

      Given his wife was born in 1603, we assume he was born roughly 1600.

      Family Life
      John married Anna Rae on the 23rd of February 1623 at Canongate in Edinburgh. They had six children:

      1. Catharine, b. 1623
      2. Euphame, b. 1625 and who married Robert Elphinstone of Quarrell
      3. Anna, b. 1628 and who married Sir John Ramsay
      4. John, b. 1629
      5. Helene, b. 1630
      6. Alexander, b. 1631

      Death
      John apparently died in 1692, having been sectioned as insane in 16631. Ancestry trees instead have him dying in 1674.
