      Early Life
Euphame Carstairs was the eldest daughter of Sir John Carstairs of Kilconquhar by his first wife, Anna Rae, daughter and co-heiress of Adam Rae of Pitsindie1. She was born c. 1625 and baptised in Edinburgh on the 8th of February that year.

      Family Life
Euphame married Sir Robert Elphinstone of Quarrell on the 15th of July 1643 at Falkirk in Stirlingshire. They had three children:

      1. Michael, of Quarrell, who married Rachel Bruce
      2. James, a merchant in Grangepans who married firstly Helen Hunter and secondly Euphan Wright
      3. Anna who married Sir William Bruce, Bart. of Stenhouse

      Death
Euphame's exact date of death is unknown. She can't have died much before 1647, given that she had at least three children and was only married in 1643.
