  • Notes
    • Early Life
Most likely born c. 1620, Robert Elphinstone was the eldest son of Michael Elphinstone of Quarrel and Mary Bruce, of the Bruce of Kinnaird family.

      Career
Robert was served heir to his father on the 1st February 1643 and knighted before 1649. Apparently1, he gifted a silver bread plate to the church of Larbert which was engraved (presumably later, after he had died):
Ex Dono D. Roberti Elphinstone De Quarrel Equitis Qui XIV Cal Sextilis Anno Salutis MDCLXXXXIII Obiit. In Usum Panis Eucharistici Ecclesiæ Lerberianae Mro. Archibaldo Mushitge Curam Gerente.

      Which translates to:
A gift from Robert Elphinstone of Quarrell, knight, who died in the year 1683. For the eucharist service at the church of Larbert, under the care of Archibald Mushitge [not sure how that translates back to a Scottish surname]

      Death
Robert died on the 19th of July 1683.
