  Early Life Rachel Bruce was apparently1 the only daughter of Sir William Bruce of Stenhouse, Bart1 by his wife Helen Douglas. In Burke's Peerage (Bruce of Stenhouse) Sir William, 2nd Baronet, of Stenhouse is noted as marrying Helen Douglas and having one un-named daughter (presumably, Rachel) and a son, William. I note that Sir William senior's mother was called Rachel, so believe this to be the correct parentage. She was most likely born in the early 1640s.
