Early Life
John Kelso's birth date is unknown, but he can't have been older than 60 at the battle of Flodden Field where he died, nor can he have been younger than 18 in 1503 when he was granted lands by
James IV. Extrapolation from descendants suggests 1455ish.
Kelso of Kelsoland1 continues the pedigree up from this John to Hugo de Kelso.
From
Kelso of Kelsoland:
John, eldest son of John, succeeded his father and was for a long time under forfeiture but on March 11, 1503, a deed was granted by James IV, which re-echoes the original charter. Lord Kelso appears in the Parliament at Edinburgh in 1506 and was slain at the Battle of Flodden Field 1513. His wife was Marjory, daughter of Stewart of Fynock, son of Stewart of Bute, grand-son of Robert II.
