      John Murdoch was born in 1704 (he was 37 when he died). His parents are not known.

      Death
      John died on the 18th of January 1742. The inscription at Kilmadock Cemetery reads:
      B 17[4]3. John MURDOCH 18.1.17(42] 37, wife Margaret McNIVEN 23.12.1756 59, son JAMES died Bridge of Teith 29.9.1822 86 (wife Beatrix CAMPBELL 5.2.1817 77). Also John MURDOCH (father captain J. C. MURDOCH) died Edinburgh 23.1.182[3] [3] y 2 m

      The John Murdoch mentioned here who died in Edinburgh 1823 may be their great-grandson, issue of their grandson James Campbell Murdoch (himself the son of John of this page's son James, of Kilmadock, and Beatrix Campbell).
