  • Notes
    • Note that Burkes Peerage1 gives Robert Adair's mother as Elizabeth Gordon, daughter of Sir James Gordon, Bt. of Lochinvar. This is in disagreement with all other sources I've found, which give his mother as Rosena McLelland, daughter of Sir Thomas McLelland of Bomby.

Served heir to his father and grandfather, in the Scottish estates, 19 Feb 1629. Knighted by King Charles I. Built Ballymena Castle as a centre for the family's Irish estates as the family became increasingly more focused on permanent residence in northern Island. The original castle was burnt down in 1740.
