Family Life
The marriage record is hard to make out - this is roughly what it says:
11 Jan.ry 1701
Archibald Nisbet of Carphin, in the parish of Bothwell, and Emilia Stewart daughter to ye deceast Mr Archibald Stewart brother to the Earle of Murray [Moray]
?? ?? ?? ?? to go to England in order to marry
?????
30 Jan 1701
The mysterious mention of having to go to England to marry would be intriguing to investigate further but without some help on reading the handwriting I'm stuck at this point. There is another record, on the 26
th January 1701, between Archibald Neisbet [sic] of Carphin and Emilia Stewart, but this record is at Bothwell in Lanarkshire, near Glasgow, where Archibald resided.
Finally, the
Extracted Parish Records on Ancestry read:
a) Stewart, Emma, daughter to the deceast Mr. Archibald Stewart, brother to the Earle of Murray, and Archibald Nisbet of Carphin, in ye paroch of Bothwell p. 11 Jan 1701 , m. 30 Jan 1701 and
b) Nisbet, Archibald, of Carphin, in the paroch of Bothwell, and Emma Stewart, daughter to ye deceast Mr. Archibald Stewart, brother to the Earle of Murray p. 11 Jan 1701 , m. 30 Jan 1701
Death
Archibald died in 1739
1, though lots of online pedigrees have a date of 29
th September 1740 with no source. I can't find a primary source to confirm his d.o.b.
