  • Notes
    • Early Life
Humphrey FitzWilliam was born c. 1475 (extrapolated from descendents), the son of Edward FitzWilliam and Alice Westby.

I thnk there might be a generation missing above Humphrey, either Edward was his grandfather, or Edward's father was not Richard. Otherwise we end up in the early 1300s in a blink.

      Family Life
Humphrey married Anne Dalison/Dalyson, daughter of William Dalyson of Laughton. They had six sons and four daughters:
      1. Charles b. c. 1515, and later of Saundby who married Mary Littlebury
      2. William who married Elizabeth Harrington
      3. Thomas who married Alice Laconby
      4. Edward who married Elizabeth Laconby
      5. Humphrey
      6. Roger
      7. Elizabeth who married Hamon Sutton
      8. Anne who married Thomas Reade
      9. Dorothy who married Thomas Sandon
      10. Margaret

      Death
Humphrey died on the 28th of October 1556 and was buried at St Peter Clayworth. His spectacular tomb lies in the chancel, the arms of FitzWilliam impaling Dalison appear upon it. A brass memorial inscription on top reads:
Humphry Fitzwilliam ?? was buryed at Clayworth ye xxviii day of October A° 1556. Who had to wife Anne one of ye daughters of William Dalyson of Laghton [Laughton] in the county of Lincolne Esquire, which Anne was buryed at Clayworth the last day of June Ao1558 and had issue sonnes William, Charles, Roger, Thomas, Edward, Humfray & daughters Elizabeth, Margaret, Dorothy and Anne. Whose soules God pardon.
