George Gylby was born most likely in the 1530s, based on extrapolation from his descendents. His parents were
John Gylby of
West Ravendale1 and
Agnes Brough.
George was served heir to his father in 1562

Family Life
George married
Elisabeth Hansard, daughter of
Henry Hansard of
Cuxwold.
Death
George died some time in April 1583 (his will was written on the 3rd and proved on the 23rd). In that will, he mentions:

- Son Tristram Gilby (bur. at Waltham 8 June 16113)
- Son George Gilby
- Son William Gilby (died c. 1611 sp3)
- Daughter Susan Gilby
- Daughter Margaret Gilby [married to Ralphe Barde of North Kelsey<3]
- Daughter Anne Gilby [married to ___ Goodhand]; and her son William
- Grandsons Thomas, George and Edward Gilby (through his late son John Gylby who died 1580 aged 303)
- Sister Catherine Lamynge and her son William Bell
- Servants Margaret Colebury and John Smythe
- Executors Thomas Hansard, Thomas Burgoline? and Alauss? Bard
The will was witnessed by Dr John Bradley, Alauss Bard, Thomas Burgoline? and William Goodhand.
