  Early Life Francis Kirby must have been born c. 1585, given the birth of his children in the 1610s. Career Family Life Francis married Susan Downing, the daughter of George Downing, a schoomaster from Ipswich in Suffolk. The marriage must have taken place after 1611, at which time Susan is apparently unmarried in the will of her father.
