Early Life
According to Fisher
1,
Margaret Beckwith was the daughter of
Michael Beckwith of
Nutwith Cote, near Masham, a tailor. Nutwith Cote doesn't appear to exist any more, but can be seen on old maps (like
this one and
this one and perhaps clearest of all,
this one) and appears to have been a hamlet settled around
this present day set of buildings south out of Masham and just across the Ure river from Aldburgh. Indeed, using Google Street View it's just about possible to make out a present day
signpost that, with some good will, reads Nutwith Cote.
A baptismal record for a
Margaret Beckwith, daughter of
Michael Beckwith and whose abode is marked as Roomer is available on
FreeReg2; Roomer is visible on the same old maps linked above and lies just to the west of Nutwith Cote, along what is now called Roomer Lane.
Death
I've not found any burial records for Margaret Lonsdale (her married name).
