  • Notes
    • Early Life
In her memorial inscription (see below) Ann's date of birth is suggested to be 1748 (36 years prior to 1784) but I can't find any baptismal records for this date. Instead, baptismal records for an Ann Healey, daughter of John Healey, baptised 3rd February 1752 at All Saints in Wakefield are generally used by other pedigrees. This means she would have been 32 at the time of her death, rather than 36.

      Death
Presumably Ann died of complications of childbirth with her daughter (also called Ann) as she died on the 16th of May 1784, just a few weeks after the birth of her daughter on the 22nd of April.

A memorial flagstone at St John the Evangelist in Leeds reads:
      Sacred to Memory
      JOHN DARNTON
Son of JOHN & ANN DARNTON
Departed this life 11th March 1835
In the 81st year of his age.
Ann his wife died 14th May 1784
      Aged 36 years.
MARY second daughter of the above
      Died 3rd December 1795
In the 14th year of her age.
