      Career & Family Life
John became a vicar, ultimately of Bitton in Gloucestershire. He married Albinia Frances Hayward on the 23rd of May 1799, at St Swithins in Walcot, Bath. They had eight children, including Anne Harriet who was born in 1804 and who married Harry Nisbet. Upon marriage, John changed his surname to Curtis-Hayward.

      Death
In the church of St Mary in Bitton, Gloucestershire, the following memorial reads:
In the Church Yard on the North side of this Church are deposited the mortal Remains of the Revd JOHN ADEY CURTIS M.A. formerely Fellow of All Souls College Oxford, and for the last 13 Years, Vicar of this parish. His unaffected Modesty, and Benevolence, and the peculiar Sweetness of his Disposition, endeared him to his Family and his Friends. Zeal, ever tempered by sound Judgment, ardent Piety, and unfeigned Humility, were the leading Features of his Ministerial Character, and by his unwearied Activity in the discharge of the Sacred Duties of his Pastoral Office, he obtained the Respect and Love of all his Parishioners. To the Sick and the Afflicted he was a kind and constant Benefactor, and while he imparted to them the consolations of Religion, his Hand was ever open to relieve their temporal Necessities.
He was born 1761, was married 1799 to ALBINIA FRANCES, Daughter of WILLIAM HAYWARD WINSTONE Esqr. and died 23rd January 1812, looking forward in Faith to a blessed Immortality, leaving an afflicted Widow and Eight Children to lament his irreparable loss. The numerous Inhabitants of this extensive Parish being desirous of bearing testimony to the private, and public Virtues of the Vigilant and faithful Pastor, of whom they have been deprived. have by the permission of his Widow erected this Monument to perpetuate his Memory.
