  Early Life William Mowat was born in around 1712, baptised at St Nicholas Aberdeen on the 10th of April that year, son of William Mowat and Christian Mowat (probably cousins). Career Wikipedia lists William as provost of Aberdeen from 1754 to 1756. Family Life William married Jean Osborn and they had a phenomenal number of children (13 at least, many dying young): Margaret, born 1739 and who married Captain John Kelso of Dankeith in 1758 William, born 1740 but who died in 1743 John, born 1740 (William's twin) and who presumably also died (before 1742) William, born 1741 and who presumably died before 1751 John, born 1742 Christian, born 1744 but who died in 1749 Alexander, born 1745 Jean, born 1747 James, born 1748 and who presumably died before 1752 William, born 1751 James, born 1752 Christian, born 1753 Andrew, born 1755 Jean, born 1765 Death William died in April 1786 and was buried at St Nicholas, Aberdeen on the 3rd.
