  • Notes
    • Early Life
Margaret Lee was born in Alston, Cumberland in 1755, to Thomas Lee1 and an unknown mother. She was baptised on the 28th of December.

      Family Life
Margaret may have married a Joseph Cooper in 1777; he died in 1783 and was buried at Alston. She then went on to marry Thomas Pattinson in 1785.
      From The Worthies of Cumberland2:
They [Margaret and Thomas] were respected members of a self-denying religious body. The father showed industry and thrift; the mother was a capital instance of the old school of matronly Quakers, thoughtful, good-tempered, kindly in manner, and full of neighbourly offices.

      Death
Margaret died in August 1826 and was buried in Alston on the 28th.

      Footnotes
[1] There seem to have been at least two Thomas Lees in Alston at this time, so it's not clear which was which. One source1, however, says her grandfather was called William Lee, which helps to identify the right one.
